Dinner at the Good Samaritan Inn - a Tongan feast
Our
beach fale at The Sandy Beach Resort on the Tongan island of Foa. After a
4 hour flight from Sydney to Tonga's main island, Tongapatu, we boarded a small
prop plane that took us 100 km north to this beautiful South Pacific paradise.

This beach was about 15 meters from our fale (see above
picture). The boat is Monika's, the resident scuba divemaster. Since Sandy
Beach Resort only has 12 bungalows (max of 24 people), we had the beach, the
shore reefs, and the divemaster practically to ourselves.
We dove three times; each was outstanding.

Foa (our island) typified our image of the South Pacific . . .
beautiful, deserted sandy beaches; crystal clear water; and amazing sunsets . .
. it was hard to leave.
There are several large coral heads off the shore that are
excellent for snorkeling.
Sigrid and Jurgen (German resort owners) provided sea kayaks for
everyone. We kayaked to the king's island one day; a
completely deserted island.
