Nile Cruise Photos
From Aswan to Luxor we enjoyed a cruise on the MS Admiral
along with a large group of international travelers. Along the way we passed
villages, fishermen and feluccas on the Nile. We stopped to visit ancient sites
dating back thousands of years.

Felucca along the Nile near Aswan
Nubian mother and her son at Elephantine Island.
Philae
Temple, on an island near Aswan. This temple was dedicated to Isis and Osiris
and their son Horus. It was moved to protect it from the waters of the High Dam.
Valley
of the Kings in Luxor. Here over 60 tombs of ancient pharaohs were hidden
beneath the mountains to protect them from tomb robbers. The elaborate tombs are
decorated with colorful hieroglyphs; many are still in excellent condition. At
one time, the tombs contained food, water, jewels and the king's
sarcophagus.
Karnak
Temple in Luxor. This compound contains many temples and obelisks; over a period
of fifteen hundred years each pharaoh added his own touch. The obelisks were
covered in gold and are made from a single piece of stone.
Queen Hatshepsut the first queen to
reign as "king"
of Egypt (circa 1500 bc).
