Jaipur Photos

Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan.   Rajasthan is the home of the Rajputs, a group of warrior clans who ruled this part of India for 1000 years.  In 1876 Maharaja Ram Singh had Jaipur painted pink to welcome the Prince of Wales,  resulting in Jaipur earning the nickname "The Pink City".

Amber lies 11 km north of Jaipur and was once the capital of the Jaipur state.  Construction of this fort palace began in 1592.  This fort exemplifies the opulent lifestyle of the Rajputs with its magnificent architecture, latticed galleries, mosaics, sculptures, etc.
