Sultan Ahmet Camii - The Blue Mosque

verse within the Blue Mosque. Islam prohibits the depicture of images
(people and animals) in art; instead artists use geometric shapes and beautiful
calligraphy.
Topkapi
Saryi (or the palace of the sultans). The palace was used to house the
rulers of the Ottoman Empire until the 19th century. The picture shows the
sultan's reception area where he (and his harem) received guests and were
entertained.
A
fisherman with a fresh catch of mussels along the Bosphorus. The Bosphorus
separates Asia from Europe; Istanbul straddles the strait and lies both in Asia
and Europe.
