Keith and Grace dressed for the group photo in Guangzhou

Lea and Grace strolling through Guangzhou
(Lea, Keith and Grace) Getting off the plane in Guangzhou,
the three of us felt like we were on vacation. This was due to the fact
that Guangzhou's temperature was in the sixties as opposed to the thirties in
Luoyang! Also, the air in Guangzhou was much less polluted so we could
breathe freely. Within a half hour we checked into the beautiful White
Swan Hotel, famous because nearly everyone who adopts from China stays
there. During our stay we enjoyed its workout facilities, restaurants,
play room and more. While it was great to see Luoyang, we felt liberated
in Guangzhou. It was warm enough to actually get out of the hotel
room! We got a stroller and everyday got Grace out and about. We
walked over to a traditional Chinese market where everything from herbs and tea
to live scorpians and turtles were sold! We enjoyed some great dinners out
and at most of these dinners, Grace behaved wonderfully--particularly when she
had cheerios with her! Our favorites were the White Swan Hotel's Cantonese
restaurant and a local Vietnamese restaurant. Most of all we enjoyed our
time in Guangzhou by playing with and caring for Grace and watching her
learn. She now waves to people, claps, loves "peekaboo," making
raspberries (courtesy of Keith), and sticking out her tongue. She has the
best laugh in the world and laughs more and more each day. Although quiet
when studying a new toy or her surroundings, she is also quite verbal-babbling
with infliction! And she is not shy--she reaches out to touch people's
hands when they talk to her. So we were grateful for this opportunity for
both of us to have so much time with her. By the end of the week, we and
the rest of the group, were ready to get back to the US with our new
daughters. It was sad to say goodbye to such good friends, but we were all
excited to get our daughters to their new homes.
