A large scale map of District Six at the District Six museum.  Until the 1960s, District Six was a vibrant community.  The government then declared it a "white only" zone and forcibly removed the majority of its residents - a blight on South African (and the world's) history.

Since apartheid was abolished, the government established a program to restore some of these people's property.
