Beijing Photos
We began by visiting the Forbidden City, home to the Ming and Qing emperors until 1911, when the Qing dynasty was overthrown. This is the Hall of Preserving Harmony in the Inner Court.
Within
the Inner Court is the Hall of Piled Excellence which was built of rocks in
1583.
Tiananman
Gate, which is where Mao proclaimed the People's Republic of China in 1949--note
his picture on the gate. Despite the atrocities of the Cultural
Revolution, Mao is still very much respected and a cult figure in China.
