Annapurna Trek Photos

As we trekked towards the Annapurna Sanctuary, we encountered radically changing weather - warm sun, rain, snow, ice.  Notice the rhododendron trees in the foreground; they were blooming at the lower elevations.

Sunrise over the Annapurna range from Poon Hill, Ghorapani - Nepal.

Donkey trains carry supplies to the villages.  Most villages are several days walk, over steep mountains, from a road.

Machhapuchhare (Fish Tail) - 6997 m seen from Ghandruk; we trekked three days before arriving at this village.

Annapurna South (7273 m) and Hiunchuli (6441 m) seen from Tadapani.

Deurali - our highest altitude before being forced to turn back due to ice and poor conditions.  After 7 days of trekking, we were within 3 hours of our destination - Annapurna Base Camp.  Shown are our porter and guide.

Two days later four people were killed in an avalanche along this section of the trail.
